"On August 15, I received a call to Providence, Florida to debate with the Mormons. Bro. S. W. Colson had been preaching in that community for 3 - 4 weeks and had baptized several of the Mormon people. As a result, the Mormons rushed on of their big 'lawyer' preachers down there to run Colson off; hence the call for me to take up the fight I arrived there on August 17, but the debate failed, as they refused to meet us on any kind of a fair proposition. I remained there five days, delivering three lectures on Mormonism and baptized one person."
