E. G. Creacy vs Elder Emory Pennycuff (Methodist)
May 12, 1927
Frogue, Kentucky

(By Willie Hunter)

Three-day debate, April 19-21, at Frogue, Kentucky.

Pennycuff is a preacher of 35-years experience. Bro. Creacy is a very young man, but showed very able to expose the false dogmas of Methodism.

Pennycuff is ironclad, dogmatic, and political. He tried very hard to get out of the debate before it started and after it started. He weakened from his second speech until near the close. He was an object of pity, and his followers - a few of them - were so completely disappointed in their man that they expressed their sympathy by shouting a little and pinning some blue strings on their dead champion.

In the main the debate was nice. Pennycuff told jokes, related deathbed scenes and graveyard tales; while Creacy stayed with the Bible and preached the gospel. Large crowds attended each day. The propositions debated were: the act and design of baptism, faith alone.
