A. G. Freed vs "Wild Bill" Evans
Chester County

(Added Notes by L. L. Brigance)

Debate in Chester County, western part of county.

This debate was the result of a challenge from the Methodist Church at that place. It proved to be a very one-sided affair. Out of more than 60 discussions, Bro. Freed found his opponent in this one to be the weakest man he had ever met. However, it accomplished its purpose as it gave six days to preach the gospel to crowds of 1,200 people. As a result of the debate, the few members of that community moved to old Antioch church house into the neighborhood, rebuilt it, and have been meeting since that time. During the debate and since, under the preaching of Freed and Hardeman, nine have been added to the church.
