At the Christian Church in Shelbyville, Tennessee - July 28-30.

Walker affirmed: "Instrumental music in worship is scriptural." This was their 3rd debate. Their first was in Nashville. Their 2nd was in Montgomery, Alabama.

Walker had written a tract that said those who do not use music were "lazy, ignorant and prejudiced. He repeated the statement in one of his speeches. Bro. Hall pressed Walker that Alexander Campbell, J. W. McGarvey, W. K. Pendleton, Ben Franklin and a number of other grand old soles that started and promoted the return to primitive Christianity and demanded that Walker state if these men were lazy, ignorant and prejudiced. Then Hall named the apostles and they did not use music. Were they lazy? Walker would not answer.
