General church propositions proposed. Both debaters were nice and gave no trouble to moderators.

Mr. Herriage tried to set his church up on the banks of Jordan. He began with Matt. 3:13 when Jesus came to John for baptism. When he used John 1:29 where John said, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world," and then went to Matt. 25:6 where the midnight cry was made; and he connected these all together and said it all happened on the banks of the Jordan and this was where the church was set up.

Bro. Haston showed him that it was one year from the time Herriage said the church was set up until Christ said, "Upon this rock I will build my church," talking to Peter and showed that it was still a year from this statement until he established his church.

At the close of the debate one old Primitive Baptist went to bro. Haston and bade him Godspeed and he did not go to his Baptist church at all.
