John T. Hinds vs J. H. Milburn (Missionary Baptist)
October 15, 1903
Fayetteville, Arkansas

(By B. J. Elston)

At Fayetteville, Ark - second week in August for 5 days: Operation of Holy Spirit & Baptism for the remission of sins.

Mr. Milburn is a prominent Baptist from Tenn. He did his best in the debate - probably as well as anyone else would have done - and in a gentlemanly way, but he failed to sustain his propositions, for neither he nor any other man can prove by the scriptures what is not taught by the scriptures. It takes Baptist doctrines to make a Baptist church; and since made no Baptist churches, it is evident they never made use of Baptist doctrines.

Bro. Hinds, who is simply a Christian, is a plain, forceful speaker and thoroughly understands the plan of salvation. So in a dignified way he maintained the truth and exposed the errors of his opponent. Will Elmore moderated for Hinds. 5 - 6 gospel preachers were there.
