John T. Hinds vs R. S. Burnette (Christadelphian)
March 23, 1911
Rogers, Arkansas

(By John T. Hinds)

Feb. 7-10

Mr. Burnette affirmed: "The scriptures teach that all of man is mortal and unconscious between death and the resurrection. Hinds denied. Mr. Burnette is a Christadelphian. Dr. Teas, of Conway, Ark. was to have met bro. Hinds, but got sick and substituted Mr. Burnette.

The debate was well attended, and the best of feeling and interest prevailed throughout the entire discussion. Bro. Hinds is a logical reasoner and mighty in the scriptures. The debate was a victory for the truth.

Bro. Hinds made many arguments which Burnette did not attempt to answer. Burnette did his best. He makes a very good appearance before an audience and seems to be in earnest. Burnette followed the line mapped out by Thomas Williams, the great leader in the Christandelphian church.

I believe much good will result from this debate. Debates would accomplish more and lasting good if conducted on a higher plane. Not an unkind word was spoken in this debate. The moderators did not have to arise to a point of order during the entire time. The Christadelphians are, generally speaking, a nice people and a pleasant people.
