Ernest C. Love vs J. B. Hardy (Baptist)
January 8, 1925
Hohenwald, Tennessee

(By W. A. Sisco)

At Hohenwald, Tenn. Oct. 28 - Nov. 3, 1924.

Hardy affirmed: "All for whom Christ died will be finally saved."
Bro. Love affirmed: "Faith, repentance, confession and baptism are conditions of salvation to the alien sinner."

This was the most pleasant discussion it has been my privilege to hear, especially bro. Love's part of it. Hardy was not rough, but dared bro. Love a number of times in his first three speeches, after which bro. Love took the floor, turned to Hardy and said: "Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I dare you to deny it. Did you ever see your wife? I dare you to deny it." Then he showed him how absurd it is to indulge in things of that kind. Bro. Love said he was personally responsible for everything he said in debate and did not want to say anything that God would not approve. By debating opposers of truth we plant the word in hearts of men. Both Sisco and H. N. Mann, Riverside, Tenn. moderated for Love.
