No less than 1000 attended each night and over 30 gospel preachers were there. Foy Wallace senior moderated for bro. Nichol. Bro. Nichol was Ballard's moderator, the Baptist timekeeper being confessedly unable to do anything with Ballard, and apparently afraid to try.
The propositions discussed embodied the establishment of the kingdom, operation of the H.S., the possibility of apostasy, and the security of the believer respectively, each speaker announcing his proposition at the beginning of each session, there being no formally and formerly ones. Error was painfully exposed and the truth triumphantly defended -- coming when it did, this debate was the best advertisement the church at Groesbeck could have had. The cause is only five years old here, and until this year was unknown. Now the people know there is a church of Christ there and the future is bright.
