Coleman Overby vs E. C. Crawford (Missionary Baptist)
August 3, 1922
Murray, Kentucky

(By David Thompson)

Held in a big tent, June 27-30, 2 1⁄2 miles north of Murray, Ky.

Each man affirmed his side of the question on baptism and apostasy, making two days on each question. The usual arguments used and some new ones. Each man worked earnestly to prove his position.

Mr. Crawford made a hard fight to prove Miss. Bap. doctrine from the Bible, but the unprejudiced and thoughtful saw clearly the unscripturalness of his positions. Bro. Overby made a clean, earnest and able fight for truth, showing clearly the teaching of the Bible and exposing error without mercy.

The spirit of the debate was excellent. The debate almost free from personal thrusts that mar debates. The crowds filled the large tent every session, yet the farmers were very busy. About 16 gospel preachers were there and a number of Baptist preachers.
