C. D. Plum vs W. W. McMicken (Church of God - 7th Day)
April 21, 1932
Moundsville, West Virginia

(By Thaddeus S. Hutson)

Subjects: Lord's day, Sabbath day

McMicken made usual arguments in support of Sabbath, and usual arguments to prove Jesus was crucified on Wednesday and rose from the dead on Saturday. Bro. Plum refuted each point. McMicken was confused and self- contradictory in trying to explain his own charts, and bro. Plum was not slow in pointing this out.

Bro. Plum affirmed the first day of the week as the day of worship, called "Sunday" and "Lord's day;" not as a Sabbath or rest day, but a day of spiritual activities. He had his subject well in hand and was full of it. McMicken labored hard to break the force of the argument, which he evidently felt, but was not able to make a dent in it. The discussion was conducted in a good spirit and was largely attended. Bro. Plum was master of the situation and truth did not suffer at his hands.
