J. A. Sisco vs Mr. Shelton (Methodist)
October 14, 1909
Flatwoods, Tennessee

(By C. N. Hudson)

Debate held on Sinking Creek, near Flatwoods, Tenn. at bro. Sisco's home. The general church question was the subject. Each affirmed two days. Bro. Sisco established his point. On the setting up of the kingdom he used Matt. 16:18; Mk. 9:1; Acts 1:8; 2:4; Lk. 19:11; Isa. 28:16 and I Cor. 3:11. Mr. Shelton failed even to notice the arguments much less to answer them. On the practice of the church, when Mr. Shelton got into the affirmative, he was driven to the point that he denied either repentance or confession being a condition of pardon. The Methodist do not believe it is right to debate any more. I am sure much good will come from the debate.
