The victory for N.T. teaching was decisive. Sam "psallo" Jones went down in a rather inglorious defeat. His supporters tried to hold him up by "cheering" him and "jeering" his opponent; but the brethren deported themselves as Christians, and were at all times of quiet demeanor and orderly behavior - all of which reacted in favor of the truth and made its triumph more pronounced.
Following the debate, numbers left the Christian Church and took their stand with the N.T. order. There were 50 additions, many from the Christian Church. Now there are 600 members of the Lord's church. The scabbard is no place for the Christian's sword. The debate paid off many times over.
