Sermons

Here are some sermons that I have preached over the years, as with a lot of preachers some ideals, outlines and thoughts are not mine alone . There have been a lot of preachers that have shared ideals and out line with me and I am truly thankful for all they have done for me. May God receive the Glory! Thanks - Jerry

ENEMIES OF THE CROSS -- Shady Grove 7-29-12

Text: Php 3:18  (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they arethe enemies of the cross of Christ:

Php 3:19  Whose end isdestruction, whose God is theirbelly, and whoseglory isin their shame, who mind earthly things.)

Introduction:There are those who are enemies of the Cross because of the way they live or practice their faith.

Mat 7:20  Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

2Pe 1:12  Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

[1] Whose end is destruction:

Mat 7:13  Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide isthe gate, and broad isthe way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Mat 7:14  Because strait isthe gate, and narrow isthe way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

[2] Whose god is their belly: [heart ]

1Co 6:12 -20 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body isnot for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.  Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make themthe members of an harlot? God forbid.  What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.  But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.   Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which isin you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

[3] Whose glory is in their shame:

Hos 4:6  My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Hos 4:7  As they were increased, so they sinned against me: thereforewill I change their glory into shame.

[4] Who mind earthly things:

Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Col 3:2  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Col 3:3  For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

Php 3:20  For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

  THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY

[ Shady Grove 3-4-12 ]Introduction:Family is an institution ordained by God to provide a safe, nurturing enclosure where husbands/wives can love one another freely, where children can be conceived, born, adopted, raised, loved, encouraged, instructed, and ultimately released to form their own families. It's the place that is designed to meet our basic human needs. It's a place to learn values and theology. It's a safe, secure place to learn from our failures. It's a place to live out our sorrows. It's a place to discover the meaning of life. It's a place to talk, think, and try out ideas. In families, we should be loved, disciplined, and given a good example to follow. Fathers lead and mothers nurture. It's a place where we develop character in an atmosphere of unconditional, accountable love.

Application: Your number one ministry is your family. Grow yourself and grow your family. Make it a great place to be -- a womb that members in your family can be safe in
