MIAMI CHURCH OF CHRIST - MIAMI AZ

Do you Have Reservations?

I Peter 1: 3-5 reads: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (NASB)
On television, or in movies, many times you see people enter restaurants where they are asked if they have reservations.  This has seldom been the case with this writer as burger joints don't tend to reserve tables, but we live vicariously through entertainment media.
In the passage above the Bible tells us that, because of God's mercy He has reserved for us an inheritance. The modifiers "imperishable", "undefiled" and "will not fade away" all show the strength of assurance we may have.
Imagine inviting friends to dine with you at a very nice restaurant.  You have heard great things about this establishment, and, though you have never been there, you believe it will be a delightful experience for all.  Upon arrival, a  lady at the host stand asks if you have reservations.  You were not aware that this restaurant was of the caliber to require such and you ask if it is still possible to be seated.  You are informed that the dining room will be full the entire night and you cannot stay.
Disappointed?  Yes. Devastated?  Not really.
Now, consider that you have spent your entire life believing in Jesus and looking forward to being with the Lord in heaven.  You find yourself in judgement and are asked one important question:  Do you have a reservation? Think about it.
