    <title>Chris Crawford - tithing</title>
<description>chriscrawford@champaero.com - Hi, I just ran across your website and found your church interesting. Please tell me what you believe God instructs His people to do as far as giving (i.e. is tithing still applicable?).</description>

    <title>Gavin G. Coriell, M.S. Ed, Minister - Re: tithing</title>
    <description>gavincoriellmsed@yahoo.com - Chris,

I do not know why this just popped up on the Web Site and I am assuming it was posted when this site was still assigned to "The Electric City church of Christ" which no longer is in operation due the current economy. I am now located in Middle Tennessee and the Web Site has been re-directed to the Antioch Congregation as noted in the Site information. I do apoligize and hope that you still find this helpful to you.

Regarding your question, the NT Church is no longer under the commandment of "tithing" as ion the OT way . However, the "obligation" of a Christian in giving should carry with it a sense of feeling that one should give at least a tenth, if not more, because we have the wonderful position of not looking forward to the fulfillment of prophecy of the coming of a Savior, but we have the position of knowing that He has come and established His Church wherein Salvation is now a reality because of the sacrifice that "has been made" on our behalf. He has blessed us "with all spiritual blessing" -

Ephesians 1:3 "Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ:"

We have a better "hope" than those under the law of the OT - Hebrews 7:19 "For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope [did]; by the which we draw nigh unto God."

We have a better Testament - " Hebrews 7:22 "By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament."

We have a better "covenant" with better promises than in the OT times - Hebrews 8:6 "But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises."

Therefore since we have a "better standing" because of Christ - shouldn't our giving exceed that of those who could only "look forward in the hope that prophecy would in fact become reality" and doesn't it stand to reason that our giving would be greater

II Corinthians 9:5-8 is Paul's' instruction regarding our giving today within the NT Church,

2Cr 9:5 "Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as [a matter of] bounty, and not as [of] covetousness.

2Cr 9:6 ¶ But this [I say], He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

2Cr 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, [so let him give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

2Cr 9:8 And God [is] able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all [things], may abound to every good work:"

In Mark 12:42 - 44 we read this with regard to the NT era -

Mark 12:42 "And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

Mar 12:43 And he called [unto him] his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

Mar 12:44 For all [they] did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, [even] all her living.

What was Jesus saying here that was the most important, the "amount given" (2 mites verses abundance)or the "attitude" with which it was given?

So "tithing" per se is not what it use to be in the OT and therefore not applicable today as it was then.

    <title>Jamesgob - The particular Dos and Don’ts regarding Waterpr</title>
<description>jamesonstat5d@mymailer.buzz - Troubleshoot the causes and find the solutions to wet basement walls ~ the sooner, the better, to maintain the particular integrity of your home.

Because they’re built below grade, cellars . tend to take on water. You might notice moist basement wall space from time to time, water puddles in some places, or-worst case scenario-flooding during the rainy season. Humid, wet, or downright wet cellars and garages. can result in peeling paint, mildew and mold growth, rotted wood, in addition to damage to stored items.

When builders take steps to water-proof basements during construction, after a while a house can settle, creating cracks in the basement floors. When the soil outside can become saturated, water can operate through these cracks. In addition structurally sound basement walls surfaces can absorb water through the soil and transfer this to the basement interior, the walls feel wet. For the reason that water from the walls evaporates, the air in the basement will get more humid. A advanced dehumidifier will help remove surplus basement humidity, but the very best long-term solution is to water-resistant the walls.

Depending on the reason for the particular moisture problem, the cope could be a simple do-it-yourself solution, or it could require the assistance of a foundation contractor. Should you be looking at waterproofing basement partitioning, the following tips will get you begun on the right foot.

CARRY OUT determine the source of the normal water.

Because concrete is porous, you can often see saturated streaks that let you know exactly where water is coming in. Identify streaks along cracks, while using corners of windows, among mortar joints (for blank cement block walls), and all-around pipes where they get into or exit, such as a water-supply line or a sewer water pipe.

If entire wall surface area types are wet, however , that you are getting to need to do further sleuthing. To be able to conduct a simple condensation test out, dry an area of the divider membrane with a rag and then bring a one-foot square portion of aluminum foil to the wall with duct tape. Remove the foil after every day and check how the bottom of the foil feels. Whether it is wet, water is leaking through the wall from the outside. In the event dry, the moisture will be originating elsewhere in the subterranean room, most likely from a basement shower-easily remedied by installing some type of vent fan in the lavatory to direct steam out of doors.

DON’T make wall car repairs with standing water inside basement.

During a rainy season, a crack in a basements wall can allow an 50 percent inch or two of water within, but before you seek to upkeep the crack, remove each of the water from the floor. Utilized for a flooding basement increases the risk of electrical shock or perhaps electrocution. Turn off the power towards basement, and then use a power pump (with extension cords that can reaches an upstairs outlet) to get rid of the water. The send will discharge the water to the surface of your yard having a garden hose. When the basement will probably be water-free, proceed with looking at, fixing, and effectively basements waterproofing the basement walls.

COMPLETE fill cracks with hydraulic cement.

Another area everywhere you go cracks are commonly found are at the bottom of the basement canton. When a foundation is placed into, its footing-a wide well toned base made from concrete as well as reinforced steel, designed to assistance the walls-is poured 1st, and then the walls are put into on top after footings harden. Although this is standard advancement procedure, it can create the thing that is known as a “cold joint, ” a weak spot from the foundation between the wall also footing where cracks produce with the shifting and deciding of a foundation, along with a large pressure from the soil.

Thankfully, sealing cracks is a not at all hard DIY task that involves propane them with hydraulic cement. Hydraulic cement-which contains additives that cause the cement for you to expand and set rapidly-is combined with water to a heavy putty consistency and then pressed straight to cracks with gloved fingers and hands or with a putty chef's knife (follow mixing and plan directions). As hydraulic concrete floor floor expands, it pushes serious into cracks and crevices to form a watertight connect. Mix only as much as you might use within three minutes, nevertheless, because that’s how quickly the idea begins to set.

DON’T miss to address window well leaks.

Window wells are a popular source of basement wall h2o leaks because they tend to retain water if a proper drainage plan wasn’t installed beneath the perfectly when the house was constructed. This can lead to water gathering around the bottom of a cellar window and then seeping inside.

While it’s difficult to use a window well drainage program after the fact, consider browsing approximately two feet minimized the well area, in addition to filling the space with big chunks of rock to help rainwater disperse instead than collect in the window basically. Then, caulk around the house windows with a caulk suitable for use on masonry. In addition , place in a sloped window well contain over the window well to help direct rainwater away.

PERFORM apply a masonry security product to bare interior basement walls.

If your foil review showed that water is actually soaking through your basement wall space and leaving them drenched, seal the interior of the wall membrane surfaces with a high-quality waterproof fresh paint. This type of sealant comes premixed and goes on just like a layer of paint. When defense basement walls with it, remember to brush or roll the coloring on thickly enough to help fill all the little expanse holes, then allow it to been lost fully before a second double breasted coat is applied. When definitely dry, the sealant styles a watertight bond to take care of any more moisture from leaking through. A five-gallon marijuana treats approximately 500 sq ft of wall.

Top Strategies for Waterproofing Basement Walls

DON’T apply sealer over coated walls or efflorescence.

When you or a previous owner covered the basement walls, you will have to remove the paint before applying sealer, which solely adheres well to bare brickwork. It’s common to find numerous coats of paint in older homes, which is best removed utilizing a sandblaster by pros referred to as blasting contractors. Alternately, it may be removed by wire brushing and flossing, a tedious but very affordable DIY task.

It’s moreover necessary to remove efflorescence-white build up that form on the surface regarding concrete walls subject to regular moisture-before applying sealer; accomplish with muriatic acid (follow the manufacturer’s instructions).

ACCOMPLISH take steps to keep water not even close your basement.

Sometimes, a wonderful solution is to wet basement partitioning is easy. For instance, remove fundamental foundation plantings, such as bushes in addition to flowerbeds that require watering, which could subsequently allows water so that you can seep into the basement. On top of that inspect and, if crucial, repair guttering and spickets to ensure that they’re directing water away from your home. It’s also a great option to grade your garden away from the foundation-at the very least a two percent downward slope.

In addition to the above steps, check out having an exterior depletion tile system installed. It can be a last-ditch effort because is recognized as pricey, easily running dollar, 000 or more. It requires digging up the soil from through the entire outside of your basement as a way to install a perforated drain while using footing level. A waterproof couenne layer is often installed on the outside of the exact basement wall, and the system also requires putting in any buried sump pump wherever water will collect and after that be pumped to the carpet. This is strictly a job to obtain a foundation contractor, but it can certainly greatly reduce basement water difficulties.

DON’T forget interior drainage solutions.

Another method of getting hold of dry basement walls ought to be to install a drainage channel underneath the floor inside the basement. The particular drain is similar to the exterior depletion tile described above, connections it’s located just inside the basement walls; then, new walls are built on the inside of drain so the original basement partitions are not visible. This is yet another job for a foundation specialized, at a minimum cost of around $5, 000. When it’s accomplished, you’ll have new, dry out walls, and any left water that seeps all through the old basement walls might be directed to the drain method and pumped away.
