What Look Did Jesus Have On His Face?

What Look Did Jesus Have On His Face?

Jesus was arrested and led away to eventually be crucified; and the disciples, who promised they would stay with Him, even if they had to die, scattered like sheep. Later in the evening Peter is following at a distance trying to see what is going to happen to Jesus. No doubt he sees the blood and bruises on the face of his Master who is headed for certain death. Has he forgotten his pledge that he would never deny Jesus? Has he for the moment also forgotten the words of Jesus, “Before a cock crows today, you will deny me three times?” When Peter denies Jesus the third time, the cock crows, and it hits Peter like a ton of bricks! Then comes the verse written by Luke that brings tears of sadness to the eyes and sends chills through the body, And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny Me thrice”. (Luke 22:61).  (KJV)

Picture in your mind’s eye the look on Jesus’ face when he turned and looked straight at Peter. Do you see anger? Do you see a look of disgust? Do you see a look that says, “I told you so?” I see a look of compassion and sadness.
