Annual singing was a success and we thank you for your encouragement.

A class for the women and another for the men will begin Aug.  at 11 AM at the LBL building. It will continue each Wed. morning into Dec. The ladies meet in the basement and the men in the auditorium. You are invited to visit.

Thank you for visiting our web page.  We are always happy to have you visit with us and want you to come back again.

Peace rules the day when Christ rules the mind.
Seven days without prayer makes one weak.
It is in giving that we receive.
Time spent in prayer is never lost.
To take a great weight off your mind, try discarding your halo.

Character is not made in a crisis -- it is only exhibited.
It isn't what you have, but what your are, that makes life worth living.
You can't stretch the truth without making your story pretty thin!
As a man grows wiser, he talks less and says more.
Our words may hide our thoughts, but our actions will reveal them.
God hears our words and knows our thoughts so be careful what you say and think.
Hatred is like a strong acid in a weak container only hurting the container.
A mistake proves that somebody quit talking long enough to do something!
A conceited person never gets anywhere. He thinks he has already arrived.
Contentment is realizing that God has already given me all I need.
Prayer should be our first response rather than our last resort.
We may successfully fool others, but God knows our hearts.
To return good for good is human; to return good for evil is divine.
When you know God's grace, you'll want to show God's grace.
Compassion is always active.
Inspect your own life before you look for specks in others.
You can't control the length of your life, but you can control its depth.
There are no unimportant people in the body of Christ.
No one can be a real success without God.
Self-sacrifice is the true measure of our giving.
Humility is the recipe for success.
The closer you walk with God, the less room for anything to come between.
In a changing world you can trust God's unchanging word.
When Christ is the center of our life, all else comes into proper focus.
If we learn by our mistakes, some of us are getting one great education!
Gossip is like mud thrown against a clean wall; it may not stick, but it leaves a mark!
Happiness will never come to those who fail to appreciate what they already have.
Having Truth decay? Brush up on your Bible!
Two marks of a real Christian: Giving and Forgiving.
It is easy to lose interest in the church when you have so little invested in it.
The most sensitive nerve in the human body is the one leading to the pocketbook.
The trouble with some people is that they'd rather pray for forgiveness than fight temptation.
We need some clouds in our life to make a beautiful sunset.
A bigger fool than the fellow who knows it all is the one who'll argue with him.
I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you, but if you focus on God, your family, your friends, the needs of others, your work, and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.
I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.
Aspire to inspire before you expire.
The best Vitamin for a Christian is B1.
Can't sleep? Try counting your blessings.
We've gone from fishers of men to keepers of the aquairium. Paul Harvey
Heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people.
Hell is a prepared place for an unprepared people.

A Birth Certificate shows that we were born.
A Death Certificate shows that we died.
Memories and loved ones show we have lived.

Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil.......it has no point.
Don't ask the Lord to direct your steps if you refuse to move your feet.
You will have pains but you don't have to be one.
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.
If you lack the courage to start, you have already finished.
7 days without God makes one weak.
Keep your face to the sunshine and you'll never see the shadows.
Duty is a task we look forward to with distaste, perform with reluctance, and brag about afterwards.

Swallowing your pride occasionally is not fattening.
No man can follow Jesus and go astray.
The road to success is lined with many tempting praking spaces.
"Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever."
Thomas Jefferson
"I know that the Lord is always on the side of the right. But it is my constant anxiety and prayer that I and this nation shall be on the Lord's side." Abraham Lincoln
"A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education" Theodore Roosevelt
"To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be highest glory to add the most distinguished  character of Christian."  George Washington
God owes us nothing, yet gives us everything.

In your search for riches, don't lose the things that money can't buy.

When you take responsibility on your shoulders there is no room for chips.

Resentment is like eating poison and waiting for the other person to keel over.

Today is the oldest you've ever been
Yet the youngest you'll ever be.
So - enjoy this day while it lasts.

Too soon old and too late smart.

"He who knows most, knows how little he knows." Thomas Jefferson

Good judgment comes from experience and experience -- well, that comes from poor judgment.
"The Pessimist complains about the wind.
The optimist expects it to change.
The realist adjust the sails."     -William A Ward

A person is young once, but can be immature forever.
Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.

At my age, I've seen it all, done it all and heard it all ......I just can't remember it all.

Wouldn't this old world be better
If the folks we meet would say -
"I know something good about you?"
And treat us just that say?
Wouldn't it be fine and dandy
If each handclasp, fond and true,
Carried with it this assurance -
"I know something good about you?"
Wouldn't life be lots more happy
If the good that's in us all
Were the only things about us
That folks bothered to recall?
Wouldn't life be lots more happy
If we praised the good we see?
For there's such a lot of goodness
In the worst of you and me!
Wouldn't it be nice to practice
That fine way of thinking, too?
You know something good about me;
I know something good about you.

Please smile at me as I walk in the door. You are my first impression of the church.
Help me find a place to sit. Your kindness will be remembered.
Speak to me after services. I know you want to see your friends but I want to feel wanted.
Invite me to return again and to be a regular in the worship services.
If my life were full of sunshine,
With never a rainy day,
I wonder how much I would
Greet my Lord, and
Just how much I'd pray.
If all were peace and happiness,
With never a stormy sea,
I wonder if I'd live as close,
And would He speak to me?
If my heart were never broken,
And never a tear I shed,
Would I search His word for comfort
And let my soul be fed?
If through life I knew no sorrow,
If my body felt no pain,
Would I long for Heaven's glory?
And His coming back again?
My Father knows the answer,
He all my weakness sees.
So perhaps he sends the storm clouds,
Just to drive me to my knees,
So that I may trust in Him,
Feel secure from all the harms,
So that I may feel beneath me,
His everlasting arms.

A note to parents about what their children are listening to on radio, ipods, mp3 players and such like. Plato wrote, "Let me write the songs of a nation, I care not who writes the laws." It is true that music is very powerful and changes hearts for the good or bad. What are your children listening to? That which is good or something that glorifies evils of all kinds?
That of the many congregations of the Lord's church that existed in the first century, NONE followed a creed book, manual, catechism or confession of faith.

Is anybody happier because you passed this way?
Does anybody remember that you spoke to them today?
The day is almost over and its toiling time is through;
Is there anyone to utter now a kindly word of you?
Can you say tonight in parting with the day that's dipping fast,
That you helped a single person of the many that you passed?
Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said;
Does the person whose hopes were fading now with courage look ahead?
Did you waste the day or lose it?
Was it well or sorely spent?
Did you leave a trail of kindness, or a scar of discontent?
As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that God will say
"You have earned one more tomorrow by the work you did today."
"As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men." Gal. 6:10
A friend is someone who likes you...someone with whom you can really be yourself...one who appreciates the good in you...overlooks the bad in you...brings out the best in you. With a friend you can share a laugh, a secret, a viewpoint, a success or a disappointment, and a complete assortment of problems, large and small. A friend is someone who understands silence as well as words...one who is with you and for you...stands by you...forgives you.
To apologize....to begin over....to admit error.....to keep trying......to take advice.....to be unselfish......
to be charitable.....to face a sneer....to avoid mistakes....to endure success....to profit by mistakes.....
to keep out of a rut....to forgive and forget.....to think and then act....to make the best of little....
to subdue an unruly temper....to recognize the silver lining.....to shoulder a deserved blame....but it always pays!!!
In 1881, James A. Garfield became the 20th President of the United States. When he was a young man, a friend gave him a printed slip which he cherished all his life. It read as follows:
Make few promises.
Always speak the truth.
Never speak evil of anyone.
Keep good company or none.
Drink no intoxicating liquors.
Good character is desired above everything else.
Be honest if you would be happy.
When you speak to a person, look into his eyes.
Live within your income.
Never run into debt unless you see your way out.
Good company and good conversation are the essentials of virtue.
Good character can be injured only by your own acts.
If evil is spoken of you, let your life refute the falsehood.
If your hands cannot be employed, attend to the cultivation of your mind.
James A. Garfield may have been dead for almost 100 years, but there is not one thing in this list of suggestions that would not make all of us a better person. Can it be that this philosophy made him say with deep conviction, "I stepped down when I left preaching the gospel to become President of the United States?"

For doing your best.
For thinking before acting.
For hearing before judging.
For forgiving your enemies.
For helping a fallen brother.
For being loyal to the church.
For standing by your principles.
For being courteous and kind.
For money given to the Lord's cause.
For being honest in business.

Every second 750,000 gallons of water spills over Niagara Falls.
Every second 4 babies are born.
Every second 2 people die.
Time flies. The end is coming.  Are you prepared?
How many mornings services would we have this past year if everyone had stayed at home when I did? How many times would the evening services have been omitted if no one has gone except when I was there.
How many times would the Sunday School have met if they had met only when I was there?
How much Christian instruction would the children of my community have received if everybody gave as much as I do?
How many people of darkened lands would have heard the Gospel, if everyone was interested in them as much as I am?
How many of my neighbors would have been invited to services, welcomed at the church building, how many prayers would have been offered for my minister, my neighbors, the church, if everyone followed my example?
What kind of Christian am I anyhow? Do my excuses stand before Christ?
What kind of church would this be if every person were just like me?

QUOTABLE QUOTE by Abraham Lincoln

"You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by bring down the wage payer. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man's initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves. "
Do more than exist --- Live!
Do more than touch --- Feel!
Do more than look  ----  Observe!
Do more than read  ---  Absorb!
Do more than hear  ---  Listen!
Do more than listen --- Understand!
Do more than think --- Ponder!
Do more than talk  ---  Say something!

Hear the good message that is meant for all,
It is tenderly given in the Savior's call,
A message that calms and heals and helps,
Hear it, obey it, and walk in His steps.

His yoke is easy and his burden is light,
Compared to the weight of sin's dark night,
If He is your Pilot, you'll reach the shore,
And walk in His steps forever more.

Willard Conchin  (Found in Harry Barber's Bible after his death)
