Racing Into The Bible

Devo 1 - Who wants to be noble?

The Bible is a book that God wants us to understand.  There are no hidden mysteries or deep secrets.  God gave us the ability to read it, obey it and become His Christian people.  So why is it that people don't understand what the Bible says?  The answer is simple.  Too many people let others tell them what the Bible says and don't read it for themselves.  Let's read Acts 17:10-11.

Acts 17:10-11 (NKJV)
10 Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

The Christians in Berea were given a compliment when they were called "fair-minded."  This meant they were noble.  Was it because they had done some great work?  No.  Was it because they had lots of money?  No.  They were called noble because they happily heard the word of God and then they opened their own scriptures and made sure what they heard was true!

We should always make sure the things we are taught are true to God's Word.  If they are then we can trust them and be noble just like the people in Berea were.
