Preaching to A Refrigerator

Preaching To A Refrigerator

By: Dan C. Bailey

Please do not be offended by the title of this article, but clearly there are some individuals who can hear a sermon without listening to it. By that I mean, they outwardly "hear" what is said, but there is absolutely no personal application. One might as well be preaching to a refrigerator!

A refrigerator doesn't move on its own. It just sits there. It's benefit come from the fact it is cold. So some people refuse to be moved by sermons. Their hearts can have an influence on those around them.  If we hear the Word of God like a refrigerator, there is no way that we can be setting a good example before others. The cold child of God will be negligent in worship, service, and love for God and Christ. Let us examine ourselves and resolve to be something other than a refrigerator!

Revelation 2:4-- "Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love."

Mark 4:9-- "And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear."

Mark 4:23-- "If any man have ears to hear, let him hear,"

James 1:21-- "Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls."
