Chris Herd is a native Australian and is husband
to Michelle with whom they are the parents of their six children in the country
of Australia. He is currently the preacher
for Gipps Street church of Christ in the north eastern Australian inland city
of Toowoomba (Aboriginal name: "twin swamps") in the state of Queensland. Since his graduating from the Tasmanian preaching
school, Chris and his family have been very involved in the work of the church
in Australia. Chris has faithfully
preached the gospel for over 10 years.
At present Chris is involved in the preaching of the gospel in
Queensland where he and his family have been working since January 2010.
Prior to working in Queensland Australia, he and his family have been involved in assisting the Eastern Shore congregation in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia and the Knowles Road congregation in Adelaide, South Australia. The Australia work is made possible by the providence of God, through the assistance of sound congregations of the church of Christ. Along with the spiritual, physical and emotional support of his loving wife Michelle; he has been involved with and assisted in the building up of the church of Christ in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, India and the USA.
The work undertaken by Chris Herd, along with the church meeting at Gipps Street Toowoomba includes: Preaching the gospel and studying the Bible with both the lost and the saved. Working along with the congregation at Gipps Street, he has been instrumental in the arranging of and participation in evangelistic efforts in the City of Toowoomba. This has included door knocking campaigns, gospel meetings, letter boxing of materials and general outreach efforts.
Due to many congregations of the church of Christ being isolated and without preachers, it is a strong desire for the Gipps Street congregation to assist in any way they can to strengthen these works. When invited to do so they send out men to preach and teach. Gipps Street congregation send out "care packages" to many of the congregations; consisting of encouragement cards and letters, materials e.g. sermons and items of encouragement for the brethren.
Chris has presented many years of radio broadcasting with his program "Let the Bible Speak" in Tasmania and Adelaide Australia. Lord willing, both he and the Toowoomba brethren plan to also present the same program in Queensland Australia also.
