Obituary for Mr. Richard E. Vines

On the afternoon of March 29, 2019, while manicuring his lawn, at the age of 91, Richard E. Vines went to be with the Lord. Richard was born July 9, 1927, in Russellville, Arkansas, to the late George Chester and Rhoda Mae Vines. 

While stationed at Sewart Air Force Base in Smyrna, Tennessee, and attending services at Old Jefferson Church of Christ, he met Minerva Wrather who he later wed and shared his life with for 65 years. They had two children, David and Lydia. He retired from Marshall & Bruce Printing Company. 
Richard loved the Lord and his church family at Trinity Lane Church of Christ. He had served as a Deacon and Elder. At the time of his death, he was serving as a Bible Class Teacher, occasional song leader and occasional preacher. 

His other passions were attending and participating in the Area Wide Friday Night Church of Christ singings, playing canasta with friends, maintaining his lawn and his lawn equipment, and taking photographs of family, friends and church related events. 
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Chester, and mother Mae. 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Minerva Vines; children David Vines and Lydia Spragens; grandson Danny (J.B.) Ward; great-grandson James; the Snow Family; the MaDole family; the Fanning family; Marvin Agee; cousins; brothers and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2, from 4 PM until 8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday at the funeral home with Brother Thomas Snow officiating. Family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville.
