BAXTER-Funeral services for Jimmie Loyd Shores, 83 of Baxter will be Friday, November 10 at 2 PM at Herren's Chapel Church of Christ. Interment will follow in the G.V. Herren Family Cemetery with military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard.
Mr. Shores died Wednesday morning, November 8, 2017 at his home.
He was born January 30, 1934 in Putnam County to the late Udell and Etmo Maxwell Shores.
He was a member of Herren's Chapel Church of Christ and served as a deacon and song leader.
He was owner/operator of Loyd Shores Trucking for over 50 years and later with his son. He was a Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy "DOT" Shores Herren.
Survivors include wife of 65 years(Married August 21, 1952 in Rossville, GA) Mary Nell Herren Shores of Baxter, daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Jerry Townsend of Peru, IN, son David Shores of Silver Point, brothers and a sister-in-law Harold Shores of Silver Point, Wayne (Elizabeth) Shores, grandchildren: Crissy LeAnn (Daniel) Robbins of Baxter, Melanie Shores and Wesley Shores of Silver Point, Valerie (Tyler) Overstreet of Alexandria, Keshia (Billy) Wood of Carthage, Devin, Cody and Tanner Townsend all of Peru, IN, great-grandchildren: Moriah, Joshua and Malachi Robbins, Ayden and Easton Wood.
Bro. David Flatt and Bro. Phil Loftis will officiate.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 4 to 8 PM and after 10 AM Friday.
