L. D. "Moon" Mullican, Jr.

January 06, 1929 - November 09, 2019

L.D. "Moon" Mullican Jr. passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019 surrounded by his children. He was born January 6, 1929 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Lovell Davis Mullican Sr. and Lessie Cooper Mullican. He was retired from BellSouth/Western Electric. He was a member of the church of Christ for 78 years, attended the Lawrence Avenue, Donelson, and Wingate congregations, and had been a faithful member of the Lebanon Road congregation for the past 6 years. He had a love for flying and received his private pilot's license at age 17. Later in life, he was a member of the Old Hickory Flying Club and flew regularly until his mid 50's when he lost his license due to a medical condition. To fill that void he learned to play the organ and enjoyed that for almost 30 years. He also loved to sing and was a member of the Lipscomb Community Chorus for many years. His wife worked as a wedding planner, caterer, and director for 40 years and he spent much of his spare time helping her with that work. He helped and supported Churches of Christ Disaster Relief by loading boxes whenever they needed help until his health would no longer allow it. He enjoyed "Young at Heart Game Day" with his friends at Lebanon Road and in his last months was upset that he no longer could participate.

He was preceded in death by his parents, L.D. Sr. and Lessie Mullican; his wife, Myla Tignor Mullican; his five brothers; and sisters, M.L. "Tink" Mullican, Juanita Harvey, Houston Mullican, Louise Rippetoe, and Gere Mullican. He is survived by his three children, Lovell Davis "Dave" Mullican III, Tim (Amy) Mullican, and Connie (Raymond) Briscoe; eight grandchildren, Gwyn (Josh) Diller, Lovell Davis "Davis" Mullican IV, Amanda Myers, Zachary Mullican, Parker Mullican, Adam Mullican, Randall Mullican, and Grace Mullican; three great grandchildren, Adeline Diller, Levi Diller, and Kinley Mullican.
