PHILIPPINES MISSIONS

At the August 2005 Men's Meeting it was decided to expand our foreign missions efforts by sending brother Don Walker to the island of Luzon in the Philippines for two weeks in January 2006. This work was overseen by the Quitman, GA church of Christ elders.
He was be a part of team to do evangelism in the area near where a school of preaching is being established on the NW part of the island. Don will be working in the field with native preachers and personal workers. On a recent trip to this same general area, over 127 were baptized and 4 new congregations planted. It is wonderful to be a part of this great work. Don was in the Philippines January 15 and returned on January 30, 2007 .
On Sunday October 29, 2006, $2109.00 was given in a special contribution to help with the purchase of two new vans for the work there, The vans are used by the preachers on Sundays, as many of them will have to preach in 3 or more locations because of the shortage of preachers. They are also used to provide transportation for personal workers and to take those wishing to be baptized to an acceptable location, which many times is the ocean. Thanks so much for your generosity.
He left for the Philippines again on October 29, 2006 and returned on November 14. He is working with the Philippines Theological College and thier students in this evangelistic and training effort. As of November 9, 2006 over 60 have been baptized and a new congregation has been established.
