Medical Mission Update #3

Tuesday, October 20, 2009
Woke up at 330 AM. Ready to head out and get started I guess after a wonderful day on Monday . After breakfast we went to the campus and had a devotional to start our day. I was assigned to Big John Elam Social Hall to work in the Evangelism area again. I had 5 Bible studies during the day with 13 different individuals and 3 were baptized. I also had the privilege of baptizing two young ladies after a study with another team. It was a hot day but quite rewarding as we ended the day with a total of 49 baptisms for the three days.
Because of the impending typhoon and the anticipated flooding and damage we have held off on most of our relief work until after Friday so we could get the Medical Missions completed before the storm. There is also grave concern that Thursday night and Friday’s storm could bring more damage and even undo so me of the work we could have done this week, so logistics have stopped much of the relief work. I was able to give funds to a brother to rebuild and get started again. In spite of his own needs, brother David Quiden worked all day on today as a translator for us. I was blessed to work with him as an interpreter during one study and found him very knowledgeable and effective.
We have had 32 baptisms in the first two days of the Medical Missions which is evidence of how great God is!
We returned to the Hotel at about 600 PM and after dinner we had a devotional with the team and then to the room and bed after a Skype call to Jamie. This is a great way to spend your life--very few things I life are more rewarding than this!
