La Feria church of Christ Bulletin

Greetings from your preacher,

Our work continued this week, as we have had some very good visits and productive bible studies. I am thankful for the opportunity we have to teach God's word, and help others come to have an understanding of God's word, so that they may inherit eternal life. I appreciate everyone's prayers and assistance, in this most important work; that God has given to us.

This Sunday, is our congregational meeting. I will keep it as brief as possible. But, I do ask that everyone participate in this meeting.

And, starting Sunday we also have another person in the congregation stepping up to help in the work here. Isabel Rivera will share the responsibility of teaching the children of the English services with Diana. Linda Rosas will interpret for her, and the children. Isabel will teach the first Sundays of each Month. Diana will teach the second Sundays. The teachers of the Spanish services will share teaching the third/bilingual Sundays. Isabel and Diana will split the remaining 4th and 5th Sundays between them. Thank you, Isabel and Linda!

This coming Tuesday night is the first Tuesday of the month, which means it is fellowship and Bible study night for the English services. Please plan to join us at 6:30 p.m. for a light meal of sandwiches and chips, and whatever finger foods you might want to share. And then, plan to stay for the Bible study immediately following the meal.

I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday as we assemble to worship God and edify each other. The morning Bible study is at 10 a.m., followed by the sermon at 10:45 a.m titled THE PROMISES OF THE SAVIOR at 10:45 a.m. Thank you.

Your preacher,

Roger

PRAISEWORTHY KIDS

This past Sunday in the children's morning Bible study, Gus, Max, Marcus, Jayden, Leia, and Zoe all continued studying the Lord's model prayer. They all opened their Bibles, and found Matthew 9:7. Max helped Marcus to find the page, and then Max read the verse aloud. The children considered what an important and serious commitment it is to follow Jesus, but that there is only His way and the way that leads to destruction. They also considered the significance of praying in Jesus' name, or by His authority.

Please continue to pray for the children, that they might grow up to be strong Christian men and women.

AN ARTICLE FROM A PREACHER: DOES TRUTH MATTER?

Jay Launius

What is truth, and can we really know if there is an absolute truth? Although this is not a new question, over the past few years there has been a debate as to whether there is anything that is absolute. Absolute truths are those things, beliefs, or statements which cannot be changed.

For instance, there are no square circles, time always moves forward, or all people die. Relative truths are those things which are subjective, conditional, and can change over time. The problem occurs when the lines between absolute and relative truths become blurred, or the rules of relative truth are applied to the absolutes.

We see this happen especially when concerning moral topics such as the belief in God, the abortion debate, and issues concerning gender. However, these problems are easily solved by the person of faith. Believers take it on faith that there is one God and one Christ with unchanging natures. (Mal. 3:6; Heb. 13:8)

They believe in the true and infallible word of God (John 17:17).

Within the pages of the Scriptures, Christians find the absolute moral standard of living, and the undeniable and undebatable code of conduct that will be used to judge all people. (John 12:48)

These are the absolute truths that can set people free from sin and spiritual death, (John 8:32) leading to an eternal existence, literally immortality in the presence of God and Jesus Christ. (Rom. 6:23; 1 Cor. 15:54; 1 John 2:17)

We are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. - (1 John 5:20b)

- (1 Juan 5:20b)

PROXIMOS EVENTOS (En orden de ocurrencia).

Our News Archives

OUR VISITORS ARE OUR HONORED GUESTS!

If you worship with us, this is what you may expect to see following the New Testament example we can read about in the Bible:

We pray to Our Father through the name of Jesus Christ.

We open up the Bible and read it.

A gospel sermon is preached.

We sing from the heart without instruments.

We remember the Lord Jesus Christ's death every first day of the week with the Lord's supper.

Those who have laid funds by in store for the purpose of giving to the work of the church make contributions.

If you are a visitor and are interested in knowing more about the events of the church of Christ in La Feria, please call preacher Roger Goodwin at (956) 277-0434.

"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." (Matt. 28:18-20)
