Don is the present full-time preacher for the Vidalia Church of Christ.  He was the preacher in Ferriday, LA for thirteen and a half years.  Before coming to Ferriday, he was the preacher for the Lord's church in Homer, LA for ten years.  He was raised in a Christian home and has been a Christian since 1964.

Don is married to the former Lynda Jean Secrest.  They have been married for 45 years.  They have two grown daughters.  Donna is married to Dale Sindle of Springhill, LA and they have 2 children.  Leslee is married to Edward Rowland of Saltillo, MS. They have 1 child.   Don & Lynda have 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He retired in 1981, from Meyer's Bakeries of Hope, Arkansas, after working with them for 15 years, so to spend full-time preaching.  He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the American Bakery and Confectionary Workers of America for the State of Arkansas (1979-81).

He has worked in many campaigns in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Kentucky.

He has conducted many Gospel Meetings in different locations, as well as spoken on many lectureships.

He helped to establish a prison ministries at Concordia Parish Correctional Facility and River Correctional Center in Ferriday, LA.  He has written his own personal Bible correspondence Course covering the entire Bible entitled "My View."  Thousands of those courses have been used in many prisons and homes.

His sermons and articles have appeared in many Christian magazines and church bulletins.  Through the tape and C.D. ministry, his sermons have been sent around the world.  He has written over 270 sermon tracts and adding to that list all of the time.  He is also well-known for writing poetry. He has written five classroom books, all entitled "God's Daycare," Volume 1,2,3,4,5.

He was a member of the Claiborne Parish Family Support Group during the Gulf War.

He was the past Chairman for the Concordia Parish Christmas Charity Fund (1994).

He has served as President of the Homer Hospital Guild (Homer, LA) and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors (1991).

He is very active in community affairs in serving in the Lions's Club (1983-1993), as Lions Club Secretary and on the Board of Directors in Homer, LA for 5 years.  He is presently a member of the Vidalia, LA Lions Club (2006-13).

He is a Rotarian (1993-2013) and is presently serving as Secretary/Treasurer of the Ferriday, LA Rotary Club and serves on the Board of Directors.  He was honored by the Rotary Club in 2007, when they made him a Paul Harris Fellow.

He is the past Secretary of the Ferriday, LA Chamber of Commerce and served on the Board of Directors (2006).  He is the past Vice President of the Vidalia, LA Chamber of Commerce (2007-09) and  served on the Board of Directors.

He served on the City of Ferriday, LA Finance Committee (2005-07).
