The Wisdom of God

The Wisdom of God

By: Dan C. Bailey

The wisdom of God can clearly be seen in His creation. There is wisdom found in the coloration of a quail. God knew that quails would have to hide from predators. There is wisdom in the length of a day and in the length of a night. God know that man would need rest and the earth would need shade. Truly the writer of Romans expressed it the best by inspiration, "33O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!" (Romans 11:33).

Just as God's wisdom can be seen in His creation, God's wisdom can also be seen in the cross of Calvary. No one but an Almighty God could have planned the scheme of redemption. We have the plan of God revealed unto us in the New Testament. Christ, His only begotten Son, came to this wicked world to teach and prepare His apostles, to die on the rugged cross, to be laid in the tomb for three days, to be resurrected from the grave, and then to ascend back up into heaven to receive glory. No man could have ever thought of such a plan. "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God" (1 Corinthians 1:18).

Every person in the world is obligated to believe the wisdom of God by believing the sweet story of His dear Son. But the question is "What is man expected to do?" Upon believing the gospel of Christ, God requires man to repent. "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent" (Acts 17:30).

God requires man to confess his faith in Christ. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:9,10).

God expects and requires that man be baptized into Christ. "And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord" (Acts 22:16).

And God expects man to live faithfully unto death. " ... be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life" (Revelation 2:10).

Let us not reject the wisdom of God as seen in his creation; and let us not reject the wisdom of God as seen in His beautiful plan of salvation.

"Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city" (Revelation 22:14).
