What God Teaches on the Subject of Homosexuality

Genesis 1:27 -- "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." God did not create another "man" for Adam, but God created a woman, and Adam called her name Eve.

Ephesians 5:23 -- "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body." A marriage, according to God's word involves a male and a female. Two males cannot be married in the sight of God. Neither can two females be married in the sight of God.

Leviticus 18:22-23 -- "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion." Many today argue that we should be able to lawfully choose to do whatever we want to do, especially if it involves our own bodies. But a society which legally sanctions homosexuality will of necessity have to condone other types of sexual perversion, including sexual relations with animals. It is only a matter of time.

1 Kings 14:24 -- "And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel."

1 Kings 15:11,12 -- "And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father. And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made."

1 Kings 22:46 -- "And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land."

2 Kings 23:7 -- "And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove."

2 Peter 2:6-8 -- "And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making theman ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)"

Jude 7 -- "Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."

Romans 1:24-27 -- "Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet."

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 -- "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God." The word "effeminate" according to Arndt & Gingrich Greek Lexicon, means "of persons, soft, effeminate, especially of catamites, men and boys who allow themselves to be misused homosexually" (p. 489). The phrase "abusers of themselves with mankind" (according to the same lexicon), is described as "a male homosexual pederast, sodomite" (p. 109).

1 Timothy 1:8-11 -- "But we know that the law isgood, if a man use it lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust." The phrase "for them that defile themselves with mankind" is the same Greek word that is used in 1 Corinthians 6:9 (Arndt & Gingrich, p.109).

1 John 3:4 -- "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law."

Genesis 19:4-7 -- "But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them. And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly."

Luke 17:28-30 -- "Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed."

Genesis 19:24-25 -- "Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground."

The Bible condemns homosexuality in the Old Testament and New Testament. It is clearly sinful conduct. The Christian does not hate the homosexual; but the Christian hates the false way or sinful conduct of all those who transgress God's law. "Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way" (Psalm 119:104).

Jesus taught that the soul was worth more than the whole world. "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Matthew 16:26).

Christians love the souls of all who are lost and in sin. They want the sinner to repent, just as God wants the sinner to repent. "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:" (Acts 17:30). "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9). "Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live" (Ezekiel 18:23).

As Christians we must speak out against everything that God speaks against. We must support everything that God supports. And we must stand for the truth in a world where Satan has deceived the minds of so many. "O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps" (Jeremiah 10:23). "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death" (Proverbs 14:12). "For the wages of sin isdeath; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23).
