Dix River Church of Christ
History

The Dix River Church of Christ

Established January 29th 1984

Founded by Mitchell Joseph, Willie Day, and Willie Hendrix.  The three brothers went visiting people in the surrounding community, to talk about starting a new church.

Homer Day said, that they could hold services in the Dix River Coon Club building.  On January 29th 1984 the first services were held there.  Twenty-nine people attended the first service.  Willie Day was the preacher of the new church.

Soon talk began about building a new church.  Homer and Margaret Day deeded a piece of property on Preachersville Road to build a new church on, and Mitchell and Rebecca Joseph also deeding the land across for a cemetery.  In the fall of 1984, work began on the new church.

Donations from other churches and their members, and a lot of time and hard work went into building the new church.

Services were held in the new church on Easter Sunday, April the 7th 1985.  Dedication for the Dix River Church of Christ was held on the first Sunday in June 1985, there were 110 in attendance on that day
