Well I think that it is essential to be apart of a congregation because how else would one grow in the Lord. The bible says that "one must not forsake the assembly of the saints," therefore you must attend in order to be obedient to the command of the Lord. But at the same time if one is not comfortable where they are at and where they attend it hindering their growth, then they should seek out a congregation that is suitable for them spiritual wise. In order to do that you kind of have to attend different congregations to get a better inside look of what you see as a positive or a negative, but most importantly you must make sure that you stay in the word and compare what God says and wants Christians to do vs. what that congregation is doing. But I do not think that it is a requirement that one be a member or place membership at a congregation. Yet at the same time you need to find a home somewhere in order to be an asset to God, others, and yourself. And there is not really enough information given in the bible on the Ethiopian Eunich to say either way that after he obeyed that he didn't find a congregation to belong to. But on that same note, the apostles I don't think really had a home congregation either, they attended where ever they were needed and they keep in contact with all congregations they came in contact with. We are all members of the body, therefore I don't see why it would be a requirement. What do you think?
