David Taylor (Goodlettsville) - July 25, 2021

Obituary of David Wendall Taylor

Goodlettsville, TN -- David Wendall Taylor of Goodlettsville, TN passed peacefully from this life on July 25, 2021. David will be fondly remembered for his giving and kind nature. He loved helping the elderly and widows in their time of need.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; children Kim Brake (Jeff) of Alabaster, AL, Jeff Taylor of Hendersonville, TN; special faithful companion Bo; brother Harold Taylor of Hermitage, TN; granddaughter Jessie Hooberry (Matthew) Probst; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents Iver Bernard and Susie Moise Taylor; brothers Bobby, Harry and Ray; sister in law Dolores Taylor and best fried Jeff Hooberry.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 on Wednesday, July 26 at Forest Lawn.

Officiated by Bro. Sellers Crain and Bro. Doug Tooley from the Rivergate Church of Christ.



Buck Ewton (Dunlap) - July 29, 2021

James Alvin "Buck" Ewton, age 90, of the Pailo Community in Bledsoe County, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was married to Justine Burch Ewton for 68 years. He was a lifetime member of Bethel church of Christ. Buck never made it past 8th grade. He went to work on his parents farm at an early age. He worked 30 years at Bledsoe Telephone Cooperative where he retired in the early 90's. There he worked as a telephone installer and a repairman. He always took great pride in knowing he could provide for his family even though he had little education. All of his life he farmed, and up until a few years ago gardening and working on the farm was his way of life. He was a hard worker and believed that saving money and a good work ethic would get you a long way in life. He loved his family more than anything in the world. He loved his friends, his church, but most importantly he loved his God. Buck will be greatly missed by those who knew him and loved him. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Hale Ewton and Treva Standefer Ewton; sister, Peggy Lewis (Rex), and one infant sibling.      He is survived by his wife, Justine Burch Ewton; daughters, Diane Hayes (Steve), Susan Hixson, and Christy Boring (Michael); grandchildren, Amber Hixson Stephenson (Cleo), Amanda Hixson Fine (Randy), Brooklyn Boring (Brandon), Brett Boring (Victoria), Tyler Boring, Windy Newman (Terry); great-grandchildren, Jayden Alder, Braiden Alder, MJ Stephenson, Katy Fine, Shelby Newman, Colby Newman, and Corey Newman; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.      Graveside services will be held Monday, August 2, at 1:00 pm CDT at Collier Cemetery with Dennis Smith officiating. No Visitation.


Gerald Hinkle (Lynchburg) - August 1, 2021

Gerald Wilson "Poppy" Hinkle, age 75, of Lynchburg went to be with his heavenly father Sunday, August 1, 2021. He was born November 4, 1945, in Fayetteville, TN to the late Laura B. Spencer and Charles "Chic" Hinkle. Besides his parents, he is also preceded in death by his stepmother, Lucille Hinkle. 

The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. -- 4 P.M. Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Lynchburg Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held in the chapel at 4 p.m. with Speaker Johnny Tucker officiating. Interment will follow at Lois Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Camp Joy fund, 2028 Buckeye Loop Road, Lynchburg, TN 37352. 

Gerald was a longtime member of County Line Church of Christ and an Advocate for Camp Joy Christian Camp. He loved to work and retired after 32 years from UPS. Gerald enjoyed spending time farming, fishing and working with horses. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Gerald is survived by his wife, Patty Hinkle; son, Chris Hinkle and wife Nadene; daughter, Jennifer Luther and husband Ricky; son, Spencer Hinkle and wife Valerie; grandchildren, Jordan Manderson and wife Loren, Spencer McAlister and wife Erica, Cameron Luther, Mackenzie Luther, Lindsey Hinkle, Mason Hinkle, and Payton Luther; great-grandchildren, Lily McAlister, Noah McAlister, Mya McAlister and Grayson Manderson; and sisters, Diane Preston and Charlotte Rogers.
